Plans and pricing for BC small businessWhat bookkeeping actually costs

Fixed-fee bookkeeping, priced by your transaction volume and quoted in writing. Below: how we build that number, what moves it, and what everyone else charges.

How it works

Four things that are always true

Fixed-fee bookkeeping, not hourly

One fee a month, known before the work starts. A busy month does not become a bigger invoice, and nobody is counting minutes against you.

Quoted in writing, within one business day

Not a range on a call. A written scope and a fixed monthly figure you can compare directly.

One-time work quoted separately

Catch-up bookkeeping and software setup are each quoted as one number before they start. Neither is folded into the monthly plan.

Contract based, term set per client

Engagements run on a contract with the term agreed up front. Every figure is in CAD plus GST.

What the market charges

What this actually costs

Local firms billing hourly charge $75 to $150 an hour, which puts most small businesses between $600 and $2,000 a month. Flat monthly plans run roughly $300 to $2,000 depending on volume. We charge a fixed monthly fee. Send us your transaction volume and what you need filed, and your number comes in writing within one business day.

What moves the number

Five things we look at

01

How many transactions you run

The single biggest factor. Forty lines a month is a different job from 400, and the plans are sized to match.

02

How many accounts there are to reconcile

Two bank accounts and a credit card is straightforward. Six accounts across three institutions, a line of credit and a foreign currency account is not.

03

What you need filed

GST only, PST only, or both. Whether payroll and the remittances that come with it are in scope, and whether WorkSafeBC reporting sits alongside them.

04

Which sales channels you use

Shopify and Stripe settle in batches with fees taken out before the money lands, which makes reconciling to invoice level real work. Payment by e-transfer is simpler.

05

How far behind the books are

We quote catch-up separately from the monthly plan, as one number agreed before it starts. It never rolls into the monthly figure.

Scoped by how much work there is

One-time work

Catch-up bookkeeping — One number, agreed before we start, once we have seen how far behind you are.

One-time work

Software setup and migration — Quoted once, on QuickBooks Online, Xero or Sage 50. See what setup covers.

One-time work

Year-end returns — T1 for sole proprietors and the self-employed, T2 for corporations. Priced separately from the monthly plan.

What changes a fixed monthly quote

These fictional scopes show how the work changes. Your price follows a review of your own books and is supplied in writing.

An owner working alone

One bank account, one card, a modest number of invoices and no payroll. We confirm transaction volume, sales-tax registrations and how you provide receipts.

An online shop

Shopify or Stripe adds payout reconciliation, refunds and fees. Multiple currencies or sales channels can add work even when the bank shows only a few deposits.

A business with employees and a backlog

Payroll frequency and employee count affect recurring work. Unfinished months need a separate catch-up scope before the monthly starting point can be agreed.

The written quote identifies the monthly scope, separately quoted work and what happens if your volume or requirements change. We agree changes before doing additional work.
