Tariff relief for BC businesses expands, federally and provincially
Published on Published
Two announcements in September 2026: a larger federal program for tariff-hit businesses, and a provincial package alongside the PST pause.
On 8 September 2026 PacifiCan opened the expanded Regional Tariff Response Initiative to British Columbia businesses. The cap on non-repayable support rose to $3 million: up to $2 million for liquidity, covering up to 12 months, and up to $1 million for a pivot project.
On 18 September 2026, in the same speech that paused the PST expansion, the province announced $90 million for businesses and communities affected by US tariffs, with forestry prioritized.
- BC Manufacturing Jobs Fund: $30 million
- Integrated Marketplace, for technology companies: $30 million
- Rural Economic Diversification and Infrastructure Program: $15 million
- BuyBC, extended beyond agriculture: $15 million
BDC’s Pivot to Grow financing, including a liquidity loan for tariff-affected businesses, continues alongside them. Each program sets its own eligibility, and each asks for financial statements and a forecast first.
